Dakar’s Queen of the desert Laia Sanz joins forces with Gas Gas for their assault in the 2012 Dakar Rally.
As January and 2012 draws ever closer it brings with the infamous Dakar Rally – the single most toughest rally known to man (and woman). Spanish manufacture Gas Gas as announced its participation in the rally and will be supporting the 2011 Dakar Lady Winner Laia Sanz and Marc Guasch. This marks a brave step for Gas Gas into the world of rally as the Dakar Rally will become their official debut into the sport.
For Spaniard Laia Sanz winning the race in 2011 was a major breakthrough in her career and now the five-times World Trials Champion will be hoping she can continue to push for the win in South America.
Laia Sanz: “It is such a challenge, and a big opportunity for me to be able to participate with a home trademark in the most important rally in the world. I have arrived to Gas Gas very recently and thus we have not been able to work very much with the motorbike, but this time I am a bit more experienced, I am well trained in terms of navigation and the team have thrown themselves into the project, so that we’ve taken an important step ahead”.
