TMC Honda’s John Meara leads the way in the Premier MX2 Retink Irish Motocross Championship…
Team TMC MOTO X, owned and managed by Tom McKiverigan from Naas Co Kildare, fielded three of their four riders last Sunday in the “Retink Racing Adult Irish Championship in Doon, Co Offaly.
The club had done an unbelievable job on the track and at this stage ranks as one of the favourite tracks in the country.
Absent from the team on the day was Stephen McKiverigan who was preparing for exams. Present in full strength was 17-year old John Meara (Premier MX2), 17-year old James White (Premier MX2) and Christy Harnett 19-year old (Premier MX1), all riders riding TMC Moto X Hondas.
Meara, the young Loughbrickland rider got some great starts and had some excellent battles to net himself fourth, second and third in the three races, which resulted in second overall on the day – elevating him to top spot in the championship race.
Harnett (Hardship to his friends), back from a bad injury last year, on the other hand had a mixed day. He worked hard to get eighth in race one and eighth in race two and then had a big “spill” in race three rendering him unconscious for a short time leading to a DNF.
White, who wasn’t having one of his best days, managed 15th in race one and 11th in race two and then of course, not to feel left out from the attention also had a big “off” and also knocked himself out and broke his wrist resulting in a DNF.

2. Michael McCammond (Honda) 101points,
3. Stuart Edmonds (Suzuki) 94 points…
