Rounds 3 and 4 of the BEC operate under M 15

Helmsley, set in North Yorkshire was the venue for the latest rounds of the British Enduro Championships , not that our outside reported would have known ( or anyone else for that matter) or found it without guidance control of the Sat Nav and telephone. Not a sign or arrow anywhere to be seen and nothing at the event to tell you what was on . The  contrast to any  national championship in France / Spain or Italy is stunning where every event is advertised locally and well marked . TORC , take a bow , you are way ahead on the arrows !

Perhaps it was intentional so the locals don’t know that a motorcycle event is on but for  a championship with so many good young riders coming through the ranks operating under the secret service seems strange.

There were no Irish at the event, the first time in many years to tackle the two days in the Yorkshire valleys and the two tests the first of which was at the start, a snotty forest test on which there was many a crash and the second a long winding forest loop which cut into big whoopps littered with small sharp stones . The things of punctures in the past.

The new breed of riders were not to have their own way on Saturday where TOM Sagar and David Knight topped the sheets ahead of the two MC Canny brothers. Steve Holcombe crashed whilst leading and dropped to 5 TH but made amends on a very shortened Sunday loop taking the overall ahead of Danny Mc Canny and Knight.

The COC took the decision to stop the event when incessant rain on Sunday made some of the forest going almost impassable for the lesser riders. It must have been bad as such cancellations are very rare in our sport at that level.
